Statement of Commitment
Wright State University will educate students by means of free, open, and rigorous intellectual inquiry to seek the truth; equip students with the opportunity to develop intellectual skills to reach their own, informed conclusions; not require, favor, disfavor, or prohibit speech or lawful assembly; create a community dedicated to an ethic of civil and free inquiry, which respects the autonomy of each member, supports individual capacities for growth and tolerates differences in opinion; treat all faculty, staff, and students as individuals, hold them to equal standards, and provide equality of opportunity with regard to race, ethnicity, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.
Vision
To be a diverse, inclusive university that positively transforms the educational, economic, and social fabric of the communities we serve.
Mission and Vision Statements approved by Faculty Senate, February 14, 2022.
Using This Catalog
The Wright State University Catalog is published annually and is active from fall semester through summer semester. It contains a wealth of information for students, staff, and faculty members. Students should examine it carefully.
This catalog is a reliable guide for reviewing available programs of study, course descriptions and prerequisites, and meeting graduation requirements. To the extent possible, the university will accept undergraduate and master’s program requirements for a seven-year period and doctoral degree program requirements for a ten-year period.
Since the policies and programs of the university are constantly changing, no catalog can be completely up-to-date, even when it is published. Therefore, students should review their programs periodically with their academic advisor and faculty advisors to allow for necessary changes.
Students are subject to current administrative policies, procedures, and regulations of the university. The general policies and regulations listed in the 2025-2026 Academic Catalog become effective fall 2025. Consult the Wright State Policy Index for other university policies.
Disclaimer
The information in this catalog is subject to change and thus does not constitute an agreement or contract. Every effort is made to provide accurate and up-to-date information; however, the university reserves the right to change without notice statements concerning rules, policies, fees, curricula, courses or other matters when necessary. It is the student’s responsibility to know and follow current requirements and procedures at the departmental, divisional, and university levels.
