Program Description
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics offers minor programs in mathematics and statistics for students completing majors outside of the department. Either minor can serve as an attractive credential for employment or improved preparation for graduate study. Each minor requires completion of specific courses which include some common math courses such as calculus and linear algebra.
Program Admission Requirements
This academic program does not have admission requirements beyond regular admission to Wright State University. Any student is eligible to declare this academic program.
Program Learning Objectives
Students enrolled in this program will learn to:

use problem-solving skills in a range of significant Mathematics and Statistics;

understand what constitutes mathematical thinking, including the ability to produce and judge the validity of rigorous statistical arguments;

form and communicate statistical ideas and arguments.
Program Learning Outcomes
As a result of their learning experience, graduates of this program can:

I. Core Minor Requirements: 14 Credit Hours
II. Minor Electives: 6-9 Credit Hours
Depending on major, students will choose 2 or 3 additional STT courses at the 4000 level with department approval. The minor electives chosen may not overlap with any STT course requirements on any other major. - Mathematics majors: 9 credit hours of STT 4XXX courses
- Other majors: 6 credit hours of STT 4XXX courses
